Bridging the Gap Between KAP and Affordability

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an emerging and highly effective treatment modality that provides rapid relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, trauma, and more. It can be a life-changing experience. And, it comes with a cost, upwards of $10,000 for a round of 12 dosing sessions plus therapeutic integration.

The cost of KAP can vary widely depending on location, provider, and the number of sessions required. On average, the cost per session can range from $150 to $1,500. Several factors influence this range:

  1. Initial Consultation: Most therapists charge for an initial consultation, which can cost around $200 to $500. *CRS charges $150 out of pocket and also bills this session to insurance, in most cases decreasing your cost substantially.
  2. Medical Evaluation: Many ketamine prescribers charge out of pocket, upwards of $500 for a 30-minute medical evaluation. *CRS partners with prescribers who are in-network with most major insurance companies, including Medicaid, cutting this cost dramatically.
  3. Ketamine Infusion vs. Oral or Nasal: Intravenous (IV) ketamine infusions tend to be more expensive than oral or nasal administration, ranging from $400 to $1,500 per session.
  4. Prescription Cost: Clients typically pay out of pocket for the Oral or Nasal prescription. These are generally low relative to the cost of actual sessions, and compared to IV treatments.
  5. Therapist Fees: The cost of the therapist’s time during the session also affects pricing. This can be around $200 to $400 per hour. *CRS charges $150 out of pocket and also bills 1 hour of the KAP dosing session to insurance, lowering the overall cost significantly.
  6. Duration of Treatment: Treatment plans often consist of multiple sessions (6 to 12), with costs accumulating over the course of the therapy. *With CRS, by lowering each session cost, your overall cost for multiple sessions is much lower than the average clinic.
  7. Insurance Coverage: Most insurance plans do not cover KAP, so patients often pay out of pocket. *Because CRS incorporates Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy with traditional and evidenced-based approaches to therapy (such as ACT, CBT, DBT, EMDR, & more), and tailors the KAP integration to clients’ existing treatment plans, services are billable to insurance.

Center for Resilience Strategies is committed to integrating KAP with its existing mission of accessible, affordable, and effective care. By billing client insurance for the majority of the work, and offering payment plans, KAP is a realistic option for many, saving most clients thousands of dollars.
